My thanks to Tracy Hind for providing these old pictures of the village. Can you work out the locations shown or where the pictures were taken from?

Picture 1 – is that a house or hay rick with the ladders against it?

Picture 2 – the car looks to be from the 1920’s. How was this aerial view achieved?

Picture 3 – where is this sheep field?

Picture 4 – the picture looks old, but the scene hasn’t changed much

Picture 5 – note the football goal in the distance

Picture 6 – these two houses have changed appearance and use since this photo was taken.

Hi Alex,
Fantastic photos!
I have attached 4 photos – Pic’s 1 to 4 that are similar. They were taken in 2010
No. 1 The photo was taken from what is now Bob and Jane Sheldon’s garden looking down Beck lane. It is a straw stack/hay rick.
No. 2 The photo was taken from the church tower looking down Beck Lane. I believe the tower pinnacle is showing in the bottom left corner [It is now covered with lead]. The car is standing in what is now the garden of Edmund’s house at the bottom of Beck lane. Pic 1,2 & 3
No. 3 The sheep field is opposite the church / Mackrill’s house where the bungalows and house now stand. The photo was probably taken from the front of Mackrill’s house, the one on the left in photo 4.
No. 4 Was again taken from the church tower. Pic 1 was taken from the same place in 2010
No. 5 I believe the picture was taken on the footpath from the back of the church to the middle of Beck lane.
No. 6 The Wheel hasn’t changed a great deal apart from the right hand door!
Have you got the original photos? I would love to study them close up.
regards
Trevor
